Chilly Burger
So what is a "Chilly Burger"?

A Ride Motorcycle Club Level 3 Challenge defined as follows:

"The only qualification for this patch is to posses a south bound motorcycle toll ticket for the Mackinaw Bridge dated any time in December, January or February."

It is a Chilly Burger because it is a ride to what Michiganders call the "Big Mac" Bridge in the heart of Michigan's winter. If you do it in two of the three months you can get a Double Decker Chilly Burger and if you do it in all three winter months you get a Triple Decker Chilly Burger.

It usually means that you ride your bike from Grand Rapids, MI or Detroit, MI to St. Ignace, MI. This is a 500 to 600 mile round trip in very cold weather.

The following pictures are of "Mule" Dennis Johnson and "Cruisen" Robert Croese of the Grand Rapids Chapter and their seperate February, 2007 Chilly Burger rides.

Mule - Ready at 9AM

Mule - Rest area North of Bridge

Mule - Rest area North of Bridge

Mule - Heading back South

Mule - Lunch stop at Lake Missaukee

Mule - Home Sweet Home

Cruisen' - Highway 131 near Fife Lake. Oops, must have missed the Highway 55 exit to Lake City. How can that be? Or was it because I was so stunned by the state trooper, who let me off after clocking me at 92 MPH and let me go with a warning.

Cruisen' - So here I am, it is 10:49, overcast, about 37 degrees and I am looking for Highway 72 to make it across to Grayling. I better hurry.

Cruisen' - Never had to compete with snowmobiles at the gas station before.

Cruisen' - A little PR never hurts.

Cruisen'

Cruisen' - Those snowmobilers did ask me where the heck I was going on a machine without sleds.

Cruisen'

Cruisen' - Sunny at the bridge, another Chilly Burger under the belt, and another great day to be alive!
